eCommerce Website Development

We redefine eCommerce by offering a distinctly tailored approach; it’s not about better or worse, but about tailoring solutions to precisely fit your unique requirements.

Our techniques align with your brand, goals, and needs. Unlike many agencies who are just talk without action, we deliver on our promises.

Let’s dive into this page—it’s primarily dedicated to our eCommerce website development services, but it’s important to note that development is just one of the many steps in our comprehensive approach.

How we work

Our Process

At Brain & Code, your eCommerce website development starts even before we sign an agreement with a very detailed pre-sales discovery session where we identify all your pain points, business needs and goals. After this, we fuel our brains to turn the insights into a plan of action to present you with a project estimate.

At this point, you’ll realize that working with us is a no-brainer.

We start with our pre-project meeting in which our team will discuss strategy and prepare our Requirements Gathering Document.

Once we collect all the information and have exhaustively discussed the why’s and the how’s, we’ll then move onto the development phase with certainty that we know exactly what needs to be accomplished and how it needs to be done, mitigating risks of scope-creep.

This is how we do things here at Brain and Code when it comes to eCommerce web development.

You must have questions...

Ok, you came this far and might be still thinking: What about costs? Is Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source the right solution for my business? How long does it take from start to going live? Are there any limitations I should be aware of?

We know there’s a lot to consider, and that’s why we would like to share some of our experience building eCommerce websites with you.

There are potentially two costs associated with building an Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source eCommerce website.

1 – Brain & Code service costs that typically range from $39k-200k depending on how complex your project is. The average cost, based on our experience for a B2B project, is around $75k.

2 – Adobe Commerce license if you want to have access to all exclusive features available on the licensed version only. This cost needs to be addressed by an Adobe Sales Rep and we can help you by making an introduction.

Simply put, it depends. And we would be 100% honest with you because it really depends.

A small project, with let’s say less than 100 products, with 1 order per day, with an average order value of less than $50.00 per order and no need for live shipping rates, and American/Canadian stores, we would say that Adobe Commerce is probably too much for your project, so in that case, we would suggest other eCommerce platforms such as Shopify or WooCommerce.

But again, these are not the only thing to consider when talking about the right eCommerce platform. We have worked with clients that have only 20 products and not many orders per day, but it was high-end products with a high cost and unique needs for shipping and payment methods with a very complex order purchase process… so Adobe Commerce or Magento are the no-brainer choices in this case.

Usually, 3 months is enough for us to deliver an eCommerce project. So does that mean the website will be live in 90 days? Unfortunately, the common answer to this question is no. And the reason for that is because our experience shows that clients usually need more time to get all their product and customer data ready to go live.

That’s why at Brain & Code, we invest time to help our partners visualize many steps ahead, to mitigate risks like this, so usually, clients need an additional 30 – 45 days pushing the entire eCommerce cycle to 4 months on average.

Technically speaking there are no limitations on what can be done, combined, integrated, customized, or created using Adobe Commerce or Magento. They are such a powerful platforms and work so well with complex projects that in 10 years working with these powerful eCommerce platforms we have never come across something that wasn’t possible to achieve.

The only limitation we’ve seen so far is budget limitation as the more creative/complex needs, the more expensive a project will be.

One of the most important components of any eCommerce project is, by far, product data.

When dealing with a high-end eCommerce platform such as Adobe Commerce or Magento that allows you to use your product data to deliver a better experience to your client, product data becomes the star performer.

Every single eCommerce platform has attributes, tags, descriptions, etc. But Adobe Commerce and Magento are one of the few platforms that gives you endless possibilities due to the way each variation (child product) is conceived to be a unique (SKU) product.

Some of the few things you can achieve with out-of-the-box Adobe Commerce or Magento capabilities that are either impossible or very hard to achieve with other eCommerce platforms are:

  • Marketing capabilities – Use any SKU as you please. You can have an SKU as part of a configurable or bundle product and at the same time use the unique attribute of that SKU as a promotional rule.

i.e. Let’s say you have a configurable product called “Surf T-Shirt” that has 3 color options, in 3 different sizes and 2 sleeve sizes. This gives you 18 possible combinations, or, in Magento terms, 18 unique SKUs.

Now you can market the Red – Medium – Short Sleeve t-shirt as part of your summer hot sales, because even though this specif product is part of a configurable product (with parent and child products) it is also a unique product that can be reached, searchable, filtered, and used for marketing rules, independently.

This is not only freedom, this is the power that only a true eCommerce platform allows you to have.

  • Using the same principle above, you will NOT have to worry about product duplication, because in some of the most common so-called eCommerce platforms, duplicating a product is the only way for you to achieve the example above.
  • And when it comes to B2B eCommerce web development, Magento knocks it out of the park because of the SKU based Magento architecture you can excel in the ERP, CRM, Warehouse Management Systems and so many other third-party integrations because they will understand and sync your unique SKUs with the way their database works, avoiding duplications and mitigating the integration headaches.
